Technology Transfer
Research at the FMP is oriented along the guidelines of the Leibniz Association: we pursue a mission of scientific excellence and social relevance. As an institute primarily funded by the federal and state government, our work ultimately should be utilised for the benefit of the public.
At the FMP, the best way to achieve this goal is through the identification and utilisation of potential targets for pharmaceutical intervention, finally aiming at the development of novel therapeutic concepts. This includes transfer of knowledge and technologies towards industry.
The FMP has set up an agreement with Ascenion, a 100 % subsidiary of the Life-Science-Stiftung for the promotion of Science and Research, to secure and market commercially attractive research results. The implementation of the required structures is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) until Dec 2012.
An additional technology transfer grant is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (BMVBS) via the programme “Industry meets Academia” (see on the left under "Therapeutic Concepts").
We are also a leading participant in the Network for Drug Discovery and Development Berlin-Brandenburg, an open interdisciplinary initiative with the aim of accelerating the transfer of clinical relevant findings into innovative drugs and therapeutic concepts. The network’s coordination office is located at the FMP. The establishment of the NetDDD is being funded by the TSB (Technologiestiftung Berlin) until Aug 2011.
