Molecular Neuroscience and Biophysics (Andrew Plested)
In the Plested lab, we are interested in ion channel receptors. These receptors are found at synapses between nerve cells, and also at the junction between nerve and muscle. The activation of these complex macromolecular machines is triggered by neurotransmitters in a fraction of a second. Our objective is understand the relationship between the molecular structure of a given receptor (its shape) and its activity (what it does).
We are members of the Neurocure Cluster of Excellence, and the Leibniz-Institut für Molekular Pharmakologie (FMP). Our laboratories are located in the Timoféeff-Ressovsky Haus (also called the Genomhaus or just plain Haus 87) at the Campus Berlin Buch. If you would like to contact us, please write to the email address on the right.
